Notes Data is currently being logged to a microSD card in the logger box and manually uploaded to the internet. I try to do this on a daily basis. Over time (once I figure it out) the intent is to have the data upload to the internet automatically every time a measurement is taken, in real time. The time shown on the small graph DOES NOT use daylight savings time but does convert to Eastern Time. If you use the Time Series Analysis function to get a large graph the time shown is UTC (Was Greenwich Mean time) and is 5 hours ahead of us here, unless we are on Daylight Savings Time, then it is 4 hours ahead of us. Noon here is 5 PM there.

(mm)
Medium Liquid aqueous
Sensor Decagon_CTD-10 Electrical Conductivity Temperature Depth Sensor
Height 0.5 meters below surface
Notes This is the depth of the sensor below the surface of the river in mm. 25.4 mm is one inch, so 520 mm is about 20.5 inches. The water is near base flow at 520 mm and very clear. Bank full at the monitoring location is about 950 mm.

(degC)
Medium Liquid aqueous
Sensor Decagon_CTD-10 Electrical Conductivity Temperature Depth Sensor
Height 0.5 meters below surface
Notes This is the water temperature at the sensor in Degrees Centigrade. 0 deg. C = 32 Deg. F., 10 Deg. C = 50 Deg. F, 15.56 Deg. C = 60 Deg. F, 18 Deg C = 64.4 Deg F, 20 Deg C = 68 Deg F.

(uS/cm)
Medium Liquid aqueous
Sensor Decagon_CTD-10 Electrical Conductivity Temperature Depth Sensor
Height 0.5 meters below surface
Notes This is the conductivity of the water in microsiemen (AKA Micro MHO's) per centimeter. It gives a general idea of the dissolved solids in the water, like road salt. Distilled water has a conductivity ranging from 0.5 to 3 µS/cm, while most streams range between 50 to 1500 µS/cm. Freshwater streams ideally should have a conductivity between 150 to 500 µS/cm to support diverse aquatic life.

Sensor EnviroDIY_Mayfly Data Logger
Notes This is the battery voltage at the data logger box. It tracks the battery charge/discharge cycles to give an idea of how the solar charging system is performing in this location. We want the voltage to stay above 3.7 volts for things to function properly.

Notes This is the temperature in the data logger box. It's a black box in the sun so we want to be sure it doesn't overheat.

(bit)
Medium Equipment
Sensor EnviroDIY_Mayfly Data Logger
Notes This is the unused memory in the little Arduino computer that does the processing in the data logger. Not real relevant at this point but will be more so as we consume more memory once we start writing data directly to the internet via radio.
